Columbus Health Department Partners Up to Prepare for the 2012 Health Expo

The Columbus Department of Public Health and healthcare providers across the community are preparing for the 2012 Health Expo. The Health Expo will be held on February 4th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Columbus Trade Center (801 Front Avenue). This is an annual event where people in the region can learn more about their health status by getting over 40 free health screenings.
Getting an annual health screening is an important way to detect illness early and take action to improve your health. Recognizing this need, the medical community in Columbus came together to offer free annual health screenings to area residents.
This is the 11th Health Expo, and since it began, more than 12,000 people have taken part in the event and over 51,900 health screenings were given at no cost to the participant. All participants can have their screenings results reviewed by a doctor or nurse onsite the day of the expo.
Some of the screenings provided this year are; blood pressure check, cholesterol, diabetes, a number of different cancer screenings for men and women, HIV testing, sickle cell, BMI, body fat, height/weight, pain check, stroke screening, balance, bladder, bone density, breast exam (voucher), eye test (glaucoma – vision), hearing, medication review, PAP (voucher), podiatry, skin exam, mental and oral health exams.
