HEALTH DEPARTMENT CLOSED THIS FRIDAY (June 17th) DUE TO BUDGET CUTS
June 15, 2011
*WIC OFFICE IN COLUMBUS WILL BE OPEN*
On Friday, June 17, 2011, the Columbus (Muscogee), Crisp, Macon, Marion, Quitman and Schley County Health Departments in the West Central Health District will be closed and employees required to take a day off without pay due to budget cuts. However, The Women, Infant and Children (WIC) office will remain open in Columbus to serve the public. “Unfortunately, the health department continues to experience budget challenges and therefore the need for employee furlough days continue as well. We regret any difficulty this one day a month closure may be causing the community. Public Health continues to strive to meet the needs of the public during challenging financial times.” states Ed Saidla, District Program Manager
The Columbus Department of Public Health resides in the Health and Human Services Building located at 2100 Comer Avenue. Please note this facility houses multiple agencies. This notice of agency closure pertains specifically to the Columbus Department of Public Health located on the 2nd floor.
