HEALTH DEPARTMENT CLOSED THIS FRIDAY (OCTOBER 8TH) DUE TO BUDGET CUTS
On Friday, October 8, 2010, the Columbus (Muscogee), Crisp, Marion and Schley County Health Departments in the West Central Health District will be closed and the employees issued their 2nd day off without pay due to budget cuts. "We regret this inconvenience to the community and appreciate continued support during these trying financial times," states Ed Saidla, District Program Manager.
Additionally, all 16 county health departments in the West Central Health District will be closed on Monday, October 11, 2010 in observance of the state holiday for Columbus Day.
The Columbus Department of Public Health resides in the Health and Human Services Building located at 2100 Comer Avenue. Please note this facility houses multiple agencies. This notice of agency closure for the Health & Human Service Building pertains specifically to the Columbus Department of Public Health located on the 2nd floor.
This action is not something any of our Boards of Health take lightly and they understand that it affects our employees and the communities we serve. The agency closure schedule for the West Central Health District counties affected by budget cuts for remainder of 2010 is as follows:
