On Friday, November 12, 2010, the Columbus (Muscogee), Crisp, Marion, Schley, and now Quitman County Health Departments in the West Central Health District will be closed and the employees furloughed therefore issued a day off without pay due to budget cuts. "Unfortunately, beginning in November, Quitman County Health Department has been added to this list. We regret any difficulty this one day a month closure may cause to the community. Public Health continues to strive to meet the needs of the public during challenging financial times," states Ed Saidla, District Program Manager.
