During our annual campaign, the Columbus Health Department and leaders of our community have taken an active role in encouraging the public to “roll up their sleeves” and get the flu shot. Flu seasons can be unpredictable and the best way to prevent the flu virus is to get the vaccination each fall. This season’s vaccination protects against three viruses, including H1N1, which were chosen to provide the most protection and reduce the spread of potentially deadly strains of influenza. However, good health habits such as frequently washing your hands, staying home when sick, and covering your mouth when you cough are also important preventive measures for everyone to take year round.
