How Does Children 1st Help Children and Their Families?

  • A client of Children 1stChildren 1st works with public, private, and community resources to identify children who are at risk for poor health and developmental outcomes
  • Assist families by offering no cost, in-home visits to arrange help for their needs
  • Connects families and their children with medical preventive care or developmental services available through health care providers and other community resources
  • Follow-up with families to be sure the children continue to get their care and services they need

Some Services Coorinated By Children 1st Are:

  • A client of Children 1stWell baby check-ups
  • Immunize for good health and school entrance
  • Women, infant and children (WIC) referrals for those eligible
  • Health care program referrals
  • Connections to developmental programs or social service agencies
  • Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UNHS)

Children 1st Provides

  • A client of Children 1stReview all Georgia births to identity problems that children may have
  • Access to services that help improve the health of Georgia’s children
  • The point of entry for at risk children to enter state health and development programs
  • Information to use in planning future services that Georgia’s children need

Participation is voluntary from beginning to the end and parents may withdraw at anytime.
